This is my photography project titled Brother, which I have worked on at University.

I documented my little brother during a period of ongoing ADHD and Autism diagnosis. Through photographing him, I began to understand aspects of his childhood that I had previously overlooked or misunderstood. I feel the camera became a way for me to slow down and observe his world more carefully, his routines, sensitivities, moments of focus, and moments of overwhelm.

As a sibling, I feel deeply connected to this project. Photographing him was not about capturing answers or labels, focusing on the negative, but about listening and learning. It allowed me to see how he experiences childhood differently, and how those differences shape his emotions, behaviours, and strengths. My act of making this work created space for empathy, patience, and connection between us.

I wanted this to be a visual awareness made for others navigating ADHD and Autism, whether as children, siblings, or family members. By sharing these images, I hope to reflect experiences that are often misunderstood and offer reassurance to those going who may be going through similar journeys. That people with neurodiversity are seen, valued, and never alone.
